European Mission Soil Week 2025
The third edition of the European Mission Soil Week 2025, concluded successfully. It was held from the 5 - 6 November 2025 in Denmark at Aarhus University, Aarhus.
The event was organised by the Danish Ministry of Green Transition, Aarhus University, and the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development, under the auspices of the Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU.
This third edition of the European Mission Soil Week came at a pivotal moment for soil policy in Europe. The European Parliament and the Council of the EU had reached a provisional agreement on the Commission’s proposal for an EU Soil Monitoring and Resilience Directive. Representing a major step toward advancing soil protection and restoration across the EU.
The event once again brought together stakeholders from policymakers, researchers, farmers and other land managers to financial institutions, businesses, philanthropies, and citizens to share knowledge and explore challenges and solutions for sustainable soil management. Through sessions, stands exhibition, and networking, it fostered collaboration, scale innovation, and advanced the implementation of the Mission Soil across Europe.
The first day, 5 November, focused on scaling soil health through new business and investment models. Highlighting the role of the EU Mission Soil in advancing sustainable land management and bringing together policymakers, researchers, practitioners, businesses, investors, and stakeholders committed to healthy soils.
The second day, 6 November, focused on the role of healthy soils as part of sustainable multifunctional landscapes and highlighted Denmark as an inspirational example for the green transition through initiatives related to climate change mitigation, biodiversity and reduced environmental impact from agriculture, using the recent ‘tripartite agreement’ as a common thread.
