On 30 June, the first Mission Soil Investment Forum brought together around 240 participants in Brussels and online for a landmark discussion on financing healthy soils across Europe.
The Forum brought together investors, policymakers, financial institutions, researchers, businesses, philanthropies and land management practitioners to explore how innovative business models, financing mechanisms and strategic partnerships can accelerate the transition towards healthy and resilient soils. Particular attention was paid to the role of measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) systems, recognising that robust soil monitoring and reliable impact measurement are essential to build investor confidence, demonstrate outcomes and unlock financing for soil health solutions. Discussions also highlighted how the Soil Monitoring Law, that recently entered into force, establishes a common framework to support these efforts.
The Forum also provided an opportunity to showcase successful initiatives, startups, Living Labs and innovative business models from across the soil ecosystem. Through short pitches and practical examples, participants demonstrated that natural capital investments can already deliver tangible, measurable impacts, providing concrete evidence for investors seeking scalable opportunities.
