The CREDIBLE 2.0 project addresses the urgent need to accelerate the implementation of the EU Carbon Removals and Carbon Farming Regulation (CRCF) by consolidating knowledge, overcoming practical barriers, and mobilising a European community of practice. Building on the CREDIBLE project, which will end in May 2026, it will focus on translating CRCF methodologies into actionable guidance and services for certified, high-integrity carbon farming (CF) projects. The project will: (i) synthesise state-of-the-art evidence across arable/perennial systems, grasslands and livestock, forestry, and peatlands, while integrating whole-farm and landscape perspectives; (ii) advance robust Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) by mapping public and private approaches, co-designing harmonisation roadmaps, linking data centres, and piloting secure data-sharing; and (iii) foster policy coherence and market readiness by clarifying CRCF interactions with EU climate, CAP, and corporate reporting frameworks, and by outlining fair models for investment and insetting.

To drive large-scale adoption, the project will strengthen two engines: the European Carbon Farming Summit, Europe’s flagship multi-actor forum delivering recommendations for science–policy–market–practice alignment; and the CREDIBLE Inspirational Platform, upgraded into a one-stop hub combining guidance, training, networking, trend intelligence, and AI-assisted navigation. Dissemination will follow a train-the-trainers model with courses, webinars, and field sessions for advisors, farmers, developers and policymakers.

Overall, CREDIBLE 2.0 will provide concrete recommendations and outputs that will facilitate the emergence of a CF framework well aligned with the current policy context and market demands for carbon credits, promoting implementation at all levels. These outcomes will consolidate trust in CF standards, MRV systems, and projects, while supporting the Mission Soil on its journey towards healthy soils.
