Evaluation of DOC and DON dynamics in relation to biogeochemical cycles of elements and substances in the Czech-Bavarian border region in various ecosystems
Total cost € 724 741.79 EU contribution € 579 793.43 Funding Programme INTERREG

The project will be addressed under the priority Adaptation to climate change and environmental protection and will contribute its outputs to the specific objective Adaptation to climate change. The overall objective of the project will be to assess the nature of soil organic matter and the influence of environmental factors in different ecosystems on the processes of DOC and DON transformation between particulate matter and soil solution in relation to biogeochemical cycles of nutrients and risk elements in the Czech-Bavarian border region in the context of ongoing global climate change with the aim of increasing soil carbon storage.

The project will be implemented in three activities. In the first activity, experimental plots will be established and then the actual research data will be collected. The first activity will be followed by a pilot study to verify the results obtained in the first activity in agricultural practice in the programme area. The third activity will focus on a comprehensive evaluation of the collected data, presentation of the results and recommendations for practice. As a result, new methodological approaches will be proposed and put into practice, with a focus on maintaining or increasing soil fertility. Other outputs will be: a monograph, a final conference and a leaflet. The target group will be land owners, tenants, agricultural companies, etc. farming on agricultural land in the Czech-Bavarian border area.
