
What will the ECHO Ambassador do?
From April 2024 to January 2025 the ECHO Ambassador will:
- Be involved in co-designing citizen science initiatives becoming part of the ECHO team. Their profiles will be visible on the website for future profile promotion.
- Reach out to citizens and groups, encouraging their involvement in ECHO's initiatives and soil health assessment.
- Attend training courses by ECHO experts to enhance their soil knowledge.
Starting January 2025 the ECHO Ambassador will:
- Help to distribute soil sampling toolkits (ECHO kit) in their regions, supported by the ECHO team.
- Join ECHO in local citizen science initiatives motivating participants to analyse different soil types.
- Assist in data collection and analysis.
Who can become an ECHO Ambassador?
Anyone interested in soil health or community engagement, regardless of their level of expertise, is welcome to participate. Training workshops will be provided from April 2024 to January 2025 - either online or in presence.
We welcome applications from various backgrounds, including university or high school teachers, farmers, foresters and their associations, NGOs representatives, and more. The main requirement is managing the toolkit distribution and sample collection after January 2025.
Finding ECHO Ambassadors is a crucial step in the Mission Soil and the ECHO project’s shared goal to lead the transition towards healthy soils by facilitating the citizens’ engagement in the activities, fostering behavioural changes across Europe.

Selected candidates will receive email notifications regarding the project and instructions on how to become more involved.
About ECHO - Engaging citizens in soil science: the road to healthier soils.
ECHO is a Research and Innovation Action co-funded by the European Union under the Horizon Europe programme, and UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). It will last 4 years – from June 2023 to May 2027. ECHO is a shared effort of 16 partners from all over Europe and Scotland, including leading universities, research centres, SMEs, and foundations.
