The EU Mission 'A Soil Deal for Europe' aims to establish 100 soil health living labs by 2030. Under Horizon Europe, the 2023 Mission Soil call initiated this effort with two main topics: a bottom-up approach (HORIZON-MISS-2023-SOIL-01-08) and a carbon farming focus (HORIZON-MISS-2023-SOIL-01-09). These attracted 37 and 7 proposals respectively, proposing a total of 220 living labs, involving 877 organisations across 20 countries.
This factsheet provides an overview of the Mission Soil specific objectives addressed in the proposals and the importance of clear objectives, thorough methodology, stakeholder engagement, and detailed work plans to ensure the success and impact of the living labs.
