Open call: seeking seven European museums to co-host the “SOIL ART TALES” exhibition

Tuesday, 27 May 2025

In the context of the Mission Soil funded project SoilTribes, the Global Network of Water Museums (WAMU-NET) is launching a call to select seven museums in Europe to host the travelling exhibition “SOIL ART TALES. Living Ecosystems for Shared Futures”.

The exhibition is designed and promoted to increase soil interpretation and literacy across society; to add emotional and motivational layers to human-soil connections, offering new ways of visualizing, interpreting, and interacting with soil. It is composed by four artworks featuring the work of four selected multi-disciplinary artists: Binta Diaw, Jo Pearl, Miguel Teodoro and Nikki Lindt.

The travelling exhibition is coordinated by WAMU-NET and curated by Stefano Cagol. The selected museums will host the exhibition for a duration of at least one month between November 2025 and May 2027. In addition, they will have to organise at least one edutainment activity open to visitors related to the exhibition.

Deadline: 20 July 2025

About SoilTribes - Glocal ecosystems restoring soil values, roles and connectivity

The EU-funded SoilTribes project (2025-2027) is promoting ‘back to Earth’ narratives to highlight the significance of soil and its challenges. It brings together 25 partners from 11 EU countries to develop a methodology for enhancing soil literacy and connectivity. This includes establishing a network of over 1 000 members, seven soil lab activators, and seven Stewardship Assemblies. The project will support nearly 80 initiatives focused on innovative soil literacy solutions, create over 10 resources for public and private organisations, and host around 200 events.
